Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Key West Boat Club all about?

Hassle free boating. Our members have all the benefits of owning their own boat, but none of the costs or hassle that goes with it. You use the boats and we take care of the rest, like slip fees and washing. We provide a carefree alternative to boat ownership at a fraction of the cost of ownership, while maintaining the highest quality of service.

What are your hours?

9 am until Sunset.

Can I watch sunset?

Yes. Boats need to be back at the dock 30 minutes after sunset.

How much does the boat club cost?

$1000 one time initiation fee, $300 a month and the fuel/oil that you use. That’s it.

Who can I bring with me on the boat?

Friends, family, guests, children and pets as long as a member is onboard. You can also entertain business clients on any of our boats.

How many guests can I bring along?

You may invite as many guests as the stated capacity of a given boat. Our deck boat can handle a capacity of 12 people. See the description of each boat for other capacities.

How do I make reservations?

Reservations can be made online 24/7 using our internet reservation system. Same day requests can be made by phone with 2 hours notice. Please do not show up on the dock and expect a boat.

How often can I schedule a boat?

You can have 4 active reservations on the calendar within a 90 day period. If there is a boat at the slip and it’s not reserved, you may use it.

What about weekends and holidays?

You are guaranteed a boat 2 weekend half days per month. Holidays, Mini-Lobster Season and special events may need a lottery depending on requests. Please double check in advance for these special days.

Is there a limit on the number of times I can use the boats?

No. There are no limits. However, you are not guaranteed a boat every time you want one, we are a boat club and boats are shared by all members, so usage is based on availability.

What qualifications must I have?

Membership is open to boaters of all skill levels, from novice to experienced boaters. All we ask is that you respect our boats and other boaters.

What do I need to know about the waters of Key West?

Nothing to start with. We will show you the best places to hangout, snorkel, swim, scuba dive and fish. So you get the most out of your boat club membership and have fun.

Do I need any special gear or equipment?

Each boat is equipped with all safety equipment required by law. Each boat has use of VHF radios and GPS with Blue Charts.

Do I need to do any maintenance or cleaning?

No. We maintain all the boats and engines to keep them in top working condition, so they’re ready for use. We clean the boats after each use. (Note, we cover basic cleaning, not a boat covered in fish or bait.)
